The Ultimate Silverbeet (Chard) and Feta Quiche Recipe

One of my favourite joys in walking out to our kitchen garden, harvesting a seasonal selection of greens, and including them in a meal shortly after.
If you are in the season of silverbeet (chard) growing, this quiche recipe and is the perfect way to celebrate your harvest. In case you were wondering, silverbeet is our name for chard here in Australia.
This recipe combines your freshly picked greens with pockets of sharp feta, all baked into a delicious crust.
Growing Silverbeet (Chard)

This quiche recipe a go-to of mine because I love growing silverbeet in my garden.
Silverbeet is an easy vegetable to grow from seed and you can harvest leaves then keep coming back to the plant for more!

Silverbeet (Chard) & Feta Quiche Recipe
This silverbeet and feta quiche recipe is pure, rustic comfort food that honours the journey from soil to plate, and it is guaranteed to become a household favorite.
Ingredients
- 1 pastry crust for the base (shortcrust pastry)
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- 1 crushed garlic minced
- 3 large silverbeet stems or 6 small (washed and chopped)
- 1 stem of green onion chopped
- 6 eggs
- 1/2 cup feta chopped into small pieces
- 1/2 cup cream
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
Instructions
- Roll out your pie crust into a pie dish.
- Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in small frying pan.
- On low-medium, cook silverbeet, garlic and green onion until the silverbeet is softened.
- Whisk together the eggs, cream, feta, milk and nutmeg.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F)
- Spoon warm silverbeet mix into the pie dish and then pour egg mix over the top. Gently stir if necessary to combine all ingredients.
- Bake in the middle oven tray for approximately 35 to 40 minutes, or until golden brown. All to cool for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
